Questions people ask us
How many objects can go on a 50th cake?
Four or five on a 2 Kg cake, six or seven on a 3 Kg. Past that the top reads as clutter and nothing stands out. If the list is long we pick the strongest few for the top and put the rest around the board, which keeps the cake itself clean.
Do you make these for someone who does not want their age on it?
Often. We leave the number off entirely and let the objects carry the story, or use a plaque with the year rather than the age. A 'Cheers to 40 years' board is the usual compromise when the family wants the milestone marked and the person does not.
Can it be a surprise for a party of thirty at a restaurant?
Yes, and 3 Kg is the size for thirty guests. Give us the restaurant name, a contact there and a delivery time and we hand it to the staff, who will keep it refrigerated. Tell us if the venue has no fridge — for a summer evening we would then recommend a fondant finish over buttercream.
Is a photograph of the person a good idea on a milestone cake?
It works well when it is one picture from their twenties printed on an edible panel, set into the side rather than laid across the top. A collage across the whole surface tends to photograph badly and is hard to read from more than a metre away.

A milestone cake is the one design where the brief is a whole life rather than a theme, and the ones that land are specific. We model the objects that belong to the person and set them around a large number: the golf clubs, the passport and boarding passes, the sewing machine, the medical bag, the first car, the cricket bat, a stack of the books they actually read. A gold or metallic number on top holds it together. For a sixtieth or a seventy-fifth we often run a plaque with a line the family chooses, which is usually the part people photograph.
These are busier cakes than most, so 2 Kg upward gives the objects room to be read rather than crowded — a 3 Kg two-tier is the usual choice for a party of thirty. Sizes start at 1 Kg from ₹2,500/Kg. We deliver within 25 km of our Sector 47 studio in a temperature-controlled cab, with the delivery charge calculated by distance.
