Modelled digger or a toy one on top?
Both work and they cost about the same. A modelled fondant digger is fully edible and we match its colour to the cake. A toy digger is stronger, survives the journey without a scratch and becomes a present afterwards — if you send us the toy in advance, or ask us to buy one, we wash it and set it on a fondant pad so nothing plastic touches the sponge.
What is the rubble made of?
Crushed chocolate cookie and chocolate sponge crumb, with cocoa dusted over it — all edible and all cake. It is the part children pick at first, so we put plenty of it on. It is not sand and there is nothing gritty or inedible in it.
Can it say his age in the hazard sign?
Yes, and that is the usual way we do it — a yellow-and-black diamond sign on the board or standing at the edge of the site, with the name and the number on it in site lettering. If you would rather have a big fondant number as the centrepiece with the diggers working around it, that reads well too on a 2 Kg cake.

A construction cake is mostly texture, and that is why children like it. The top becomes a site: crushed chocolate cookie for rubble, cocoa for dust, a scoop dug out of one side with the digger caught mid-lift and a barrier of black-and-yellow fondant around the edge. A hazard sign with the child's name and age reads as the site board. The vehicles are the decision — a modelled fondant JCB or dumper truck is edible and made to match the cake, and a washed toy digger sitting on top is sturdier and gets played with for months afterwards. Families often ask for one modelled and one real.
It works from 1 Kg upward, though 2 Kg gives enough surface for a proper dig site with two vehicles. Sizes start at 1 Kg from ₹2,500/Kg. Every cake is 100% eggless and available in all 19 flavours, and chocolate is the obvious pick here because the rubble and the cake then taste like the same thing. Most designs need about a day's notice. We deliver within 25 km of our Sector 47 studio in a temperature-controlled cab, with the delivery charge calculated by distance.
